If you didn't catch redfish and drum over this past weekend something is wrong, or maybe you are going with the wrong people or person. No really Friday and Saturday were very productive for me and my customers, limiting out both days and catching some drum in with the reds. Actually they were biting so well we were picky which fish we kept. We turned loose over 40 reds on Sat. some too small and others legal but we wanted bigger ones. Friday we came in with 9 reds for my 3 people, and Saturday we came in with 12 for my 4 people. The fish were caught in several different places on Estes Falts. Some of them being the pipeline, the channel across from City By The Sea, Bunns hole, and Rattlesnake hole. All of our reds were caught on fresh dead shrimp. By fresh dead, I mean, I bought live shrimp, hooked them all the way through the bodies with the hook and pulled the head back to kill the shrimp exposing the head guts. This method has worked for me for many years about this time of the year. Lucky for me that I could purchase bait since I am recovering from 2 broken ribs where I fell in the boat 3 weeks ago. I usually only use bait I catch with the cast net. I did see lots of reds caught on cut mullet from larger mullets. That would have been the first bait I tried had I been able to throw a cast net.
